PABSON urges govt to scrap edu service tax

LALITPUR, JAN 09 - Private and Boarding Schools' Organisation of Nepal (PABSON) has demanded the government scrap the tax imposed on private schools.

Speaking at a greeting exchange programme organised in Lalitpur to mark PABSON's 20th anniversary today, the PABSON officials called for the scrap of five percent education service tax levied on private schools by the government and provision of discount facility for private schools in the new constitution.

PABSON central chairman Bhoj Bahadur Shah warned that they would take to the street if the tax imposed on private schools was not scrapped immediately.

PASON, Lalitpur chairman Nawa Raj Mahat stressed that private schools be provided with a special discount facility by the government.

Lalitpur's Chief District Officer Keshab Prasad Dahal opined that every sector should move ahead with consensus rather than violating the rules and regulations.
