BIRATNAGAR, JAN 09 - Senior CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli said on Saturday that the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) has not been discussed in the party's Standing Committee.

"I have no complaints on the formation of the HLPM," Oli said adding, "However the party's Standing Committee meeting would discuss it later."

The much-anticipated HLPM was formed on Friday under the leadership of Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala.

Earlier yesterday, Oli had raised questions over the scope, responsibility, and rights of the HLPM.

Oli, a vocal critic of the Maoists, said that the political parties that declare autonomous states from the streets should listen to and realise other's opinions and sentiments.

Speaking at a press meet organised by the Morang chapter of Press Chautari today, the UML veteran said debate and discussion on the issue of federalism is a positive thing.

In the programme, he stressed on the need for promulgating the new statute by May 28, 2010.

He also suggested the Maoists to shun violence to take the peace process to a logical finish.
