CHITWAN, JAN 09 - Nepali Congress (NC) Acting President Sushil Koirala said on Saturday that the newly formed High Level Political Mechanism is the focal point for ending the political impasse.

Talking to reporters in Chitwan today, Koirala said the success or failure of the mechanism relies on the Maoists' activities.

He, however, stressed that everyone should assist the HLPM to end the current political deadlock.

Koirala blamed the Maoists for the current situation of the country and said that the Maoist will tarnish itself if it continued such activities. He remarked that the Maoists are trying to become the next king and will be kicked out from the centre stage of politics just like the past monarchs.

He drew the similarity between the Maoist's threats of revolt with the proverb 'barking dog seldom bites.'

The NC leader said that the NC has shown enough flexibility and this was not the time to remain stuck in petty issues.
