DAILEKH, JAN 06 - Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Wednesday urged the UCPN (Maoist) to transform itself into a party of "civilised citizens" by quitting the oft-repeated slogan of civilian supremacy. He said that the civilian supremacy won't be like the one desired by a single party.

"Not only the Maoists but also other parties fought for the civilian supremacy," said PM Nepal while inaugurating the Dailekh Mahotsav here in the district.

The prime minister regretted the fact that the Constituent Assembly (CA) election was held by confining the Maoist combatants into the cantonments. "We have been through the quandaries of conducting election by keeping the soldiers of a party," said PM Nepal."

He said the government is committed to vacate the Maoist cantonments three months before the promulgation of the new constitution.

PM Nepal accused that the Maoist combatants have been involved in capturing properties and lands by coming out of the cantonment with weapons. He opined that the former Maoist fighters should be managed before the drafting the new constitution.
