MJF to launch protest from Jan.16
KATHMANDU, JAN 06 - The Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) announced on Wednesday that it will launch its protest to press for their demands, starting Jan 16. The party Central Committee (CC) meeting held late on Tuesday took the decision to this effect.
Concluding that the government ignored the implementation of the agreement reached with the Madhes-based parties in the past, the MJF CC decided to launch protest programmes.
The protest programmes include assemblies, public information and attention drawing.
MJF Joint Chairman Jayprakash Prasad Gupta informed that the party has decided to resort to preliminary phase of protests as the government remained insensitive towards its demands.
However, details of the protest programmes will be made public by organising a press conference on Thursday.
"Earlier we had submitted a memorandum to the government with the Madhesh demands but we did not get any response, so, we decided to launch the protests," said Gupta.
He added the agitation will also be focused on drawing the attention of major parties including the Nepali Congress, the UML and the Maoists have been moving backward from their previous commitment regarding Madhes and federalism issues.
Gupta also made it clear that the MJF is not launching protest to support the Maoists.
