Maoists announce fourth phase of protests
KATHMANDU, JAN 05 - The main opposition Unified CPN (Maoist) unveiled their fourth phase of protests against the government in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal unveiled party’s fourth phase of protests amid a press conference at the party headquarters in Koteshwor this afternoon.
Maoist central committee meeting at the party headquarters earlier today had endorsed the party’s fourth phase protests finalised by Maoist politburo.
According to the protest programme made public today, the Maoists will conduct interaction programme at several places in the country until Jan. 10, inspect and organise mass assemblies at several bordering regions encroached by India on Jan. 11, torch the copies of several treaties with India on Jan. 14, demonstrations outside Indian Embassy and Singha Durbar on Jan. 19 and organise joint assemblies at several places from Jan. 19-24.
The Maoists will also organise ‘exposure’ campaign across the country until Jan. 24 starting today.
Demanding establishment of civilian supremacy and correction of President’s move of reinstating Army Chief sacked by the Maoist-led government, the Maoists have been protesting against the government. They have already announced 13 autonomous states across the country as part of their third phase protests.
