CC recommends ex-AIG Baral for CIAA commissioner
KATHMANDU, Jan 04 - The Constitutional Council (CC) has recommended Keshav Baral, the former Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG), as new commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
A meeting of CC held at the Prime Minister's office in Singhadurbar today recommended Baral for the top post of CIAA as it has been rendered vacant from Monday itself. Earlier, the parties had failed to appointment office bearers in the CIAA due to wrangle among themselves.
Baral will be appointed as the new CIAA commissioner after the parliamentary hearing approves the recommendation for his name.
Baral had retired from Nepal in September, 2010 after serving for thirty years. He had joined Nepal police in 1979.
The CC decided to recommend Baral for the post after the main opposition party leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is the ex-officio member of the CC, abstained from the meeting as usual.
The tenure of acting commissioner duo Lalit Bahadur Limbu and Bed Prakash Siwakoti, who were appointed six years back, has ended from today itself.
