Afghans held in Chennai with fake Nepali passports
KATHMANDU, JAN 04 - Five Afghani nationals carrying fake Nepali passport and a Nepali have been detained in Chennai on Saturday night.
They flew to the South Indian city from Kathmandu, Press Trust of India reported.
They were held at the Anna International Airport when they were about to board a Malaysian bound Air India flight.
According to a local media report, Sahara Thebe, 25, of Nepal collected USD 2000 per head from the Afghans to fly them to Malaysia for job.
Reportedly, Thebe met the Afghans in Delhi two weeks ago, and arranged Nepali passports for them.
The immigration officials handed over the six to the police. As no terror link could be established, the police have registered a case of carrying fake passports against the detained.
