Constitution won’t be drafted in time: Jha

KATHMANDU, DEC 23 - Parmananda Jha, whose Vice Presidential post has been rendered defunct after his refusal to follow the Supreme Court order to retake his oath in Nepali, said on Wednesday that he is not sure about the timely promulgation of the new constitution. He added that rising differences between the parties have raised doubts about the drafting of the new constitution.

“I can’t see the possibility of drafting the new constitution as only five months have remained to meet the deadline,” said Jha speaking at a book release in Kathmandu today.

He added,” Even if the constitution is drafted, I am sure it won’t be in time.”

Jha opined that the nation will plunge into another disaster if the new statute is not drafted by May 28, 2010.

He said that the political parties should start exercise to forge consensus in order to avert the possible national crisis.

Jha went on to accuse the political parties of pushing the nation towards chaos by fuelling controversies in every issues.
