Dhangadi banda cripples normal life
DHANGADI, DEC 19 - The main opposition party UCPN (Maoist) has called for Kailali banda from Saturday demanding that those killed in Dudhejhari incident be declared martyrs, compensation be provided to their families and treatment facilities be provided to the injured, besides management of the squatters displaced.
Normal life in the district has been crippled due to the strike as business, transportation including others have been affected.
The Maoists had postponed the strike until today due to the Far-Western festival.
The Far-Western festival also could not begin in the scheduled time because of the banda.
The festival had begun on Dec. 10, three days later than the scheduled time.
At least three squatters and a police constable were killed in Dudejhadi forest incident after a clash ensued when the security force tried to evict the squatters from Dudejhadi jungle on Dec. 4.
