Bamdev awakens UML to statute
HETAUDA, DEC 19 - CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam said on Saturday that his party would be responsible if the country failed to write the constitution on time.
Speaking at a programme in Palung, Makwanpur district, Gautam said the UML-led present government was formed to write the constitution and take the peace process to a logical conclusion.
"Constituent Assembly, parliament and the government will be dissolved if constitution is not drafted on time, and this will give rise to military rule," said Gautam. UML senior leader said there was no alternative to forging a political agreement among the major parties-- UML, Nepali Congress and the UCPN (Maoist). Criticising the Maoists' declaration of autonomous states unilaterally, Gautam questioned, "Why do we need the CA if a single party can declare states?"
