Security personnel could be increased if need be: Home Minister

KHOTANG, DEC 17 - Minister for Home Affairs Bhim Rawal Thursday said the security forces could be increased as per the people's need.

Minister Rawal, who arrived here in district headquarters Diktel to inspect the Special Security Plan (SSP), claimed that the new security plan has worked well and that the security situation has significantly improved.

The home minister inspected security base camps at Diktel's Hatdanda and Chisapani.

He also directed the Chief District Officer (CDO) and security heads of the district to intensify security operations.

Talking to the reporters after the inspection, the home minister claimed that the special security plan has been working effectively.

Saying that the security sector has improved during his tenure, the home minister made commitments of more facilities and assistance to the security personnel.

Khotang CDO Keshav Raj Acharya had briefed the home minister about the security situation of the district.

Also during the visit, Armed Police Force Inspector Jogendra KC reported Minister Rawal that the security situation is intact in the district after the establishment of the APF base camp.

Following the establishment of the new APF base camp in the district, unruly activities of outfits like Kirat Janabadi Workers' Party have been contained, KC said.

Minister Rawal is on a visit to the eastern districts to learn about the security situation over there.
