“Nation heading towards anarchy due to Maoists”
DHANGADI, DEC 17 - CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel on Thursday said the Maoists are trying to push the nation towards fragmentation and anarchy by commencing their autonomy campaign.
Speaking at a press conference organised in Dhangadi, the UML leader remarked that the unilateral declaration autonomous states by the Maoists was against the spirit of interim constitution, Constituent Assembly's supremacy and politics of consensus.
"The politics of consensus is in a difficult juncture," said Pokharel.
He claimed that the declaration of the autonomous states based on ethnicity will lead the nation towards fragmentation and anarchy.
Furthermore, the UML leader noted that the statute drafting and peace process have been endangered due to the Maoist activities.
Saying that the rightist forces have started to become active as the politics of consensus is nearing its end, the UML veteran expressed his suspicion that the nation could move back to the period of ‘1990 constitution’.
Pokharel said that the Maoists immature activities have formed the base for pushing the nation towards regression and slammed the former rebel's act of seizing private and public property and intimidations, calling it the major hindrance to the peace process.
He further claimed that the Kailali's Dudejhadi incident was one of the faces of the Maoists’ organised anarchy.
