SARLAHI, DEC 16 - The police on Wednesday arrested some 16 cadres of the Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (JTMM), an armed outfit active in the Tarai region, on charge of vandalising public vehicles in the district
The JTMM has called an indefinite Tarai banda from today citing the government 's unwillingness to implement the past agreements reached with it.
They vandalised vehicles at Fuljor, Laalbandi and Netragunj along the East-West highway for defying the strike.
Meanwhile, JTMM talks team coordinator Anurag Mukti has accused the police personnel of using excessive force while they tried to stop the vehicles that were plying the roads during their banda.
The JTMM has claimed that its cadre started vandalising the vehicles only after the police used force.
The agitators had vandalised a bus (Na 3 Kha 2933) at Fuljor at around 8.45 this morning.
JTMM central member Lalratna Mukti has warned to intensify its stir if their detained cadres are not released at the earliest.
