KATHMANDU, DEC 15 - One Nepali has been killed in Paktia provincial capital Gerdez in south-eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday when Taliban detonated explosives inside an aid agency office using remote control device.

Besides the Nepali, whose identity has not been ascertained yet, four locals including a woman have been killed in the incident.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu, however,  has not received any formal information about the incident till this afternoon.

An official at the ministry told ekantipur.com that it may take time to collect information about the death since there is no Nepali mission in Afghanistan and the Nepali Embassy in neighbouring Pakistan oversees the issues of Nepali nationals. Hundreds of Nepalis work in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, spokesperson for provincial administration Ruhullah Samoon told news agencies that the blast was caused by explosives hidden inside a container and remotely detonated. Taliban has claimed the responsibility of the attack.

The targeted aid agency is financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and supports Afghan government's local employees in the field of capacity building and good governance.
