PARSA, DEC 13 - Surya Nepal has remained shut for the last four days due to the indefinite strike called by the UCPN (Maoist)-affiliated All Nepal Trade Union Federation, Bhojpur State Coordin-ation Committee.

The trade union has called for the strike over the issue of health workers associated with the National Medical College, in Birgunj. Due to the strike, business and industries have remained closed in Bara, Parsa and Rautahat districts.

However, the multinational company has said that the industry was closed because of daily maintenance.

According to Beni Timalsina, president of an authorised trade union of the Surya Nepal, said that the earlier instance of the industry remaining closed for four consecutive days was only when the Madhes movement was going on.

He said that they were forced call for the strike to protest the oppression and injustice imposed upon the health workers of the medical college.
