A Legacy of Conservation
KATHMANDU, DEC 03 - The Chandra Gurung Conservation Foundation (CGCF), an NGO formed in Nov. 2007 to continue the efforts of conservationist Dr. Chandra Gurung, is organising a fundraising event at the Central Zoo on Dec. 5.
The event will feature a guided tour of the zoo, a photo exhibition on Siklis by Sara Parker, and a reading by Manjushree Thapa from her new book, A Boy from Siklis: The Life and Times of Chandra Gurung. The event will begin at 12:30 pm at the Central Zoo in Jawalakhel. Proceeds from the ticket sales of the event and all author royalties from the sale of A Boy from Siklis will go to CGCF.
CGCF works at preserving Nepal’s biodiversity and natural heritages through interactions with and the participation of local people. CGCF’s listed objectives include promoting people-oriented biodiversity conservation, mentoring future conservationists, and providing a platform for discussions.
