KATHMANDU, DEC 02 - Rais and Kirats across the nation are celebrating Udhauli festival on Wednesday. On the occasion, the government has announced public holiday today.
It is believed that winter season starts from this day.
Kirati people perform a special kind of dance called “Sakela” in this event playing various musical instruments.
Also today, Newar community is celebrating Yomari Punhi festival throughout the nation.
The valley dwellers offer worship to Annapurna, the goddess of grains, for the rice harvest and eat Yomari, rice flour dumpling stuffed with sesame seeds and caramel which is then steamed.
