Maoists hurl slipper at DPM Gachhadar
BARA, NOV 26 - Over two dozen people were injured in a clash between security personnel and the cadres of the UCPN (Maoist) after the latter demonstrated and showed black flags to Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar at Gadaimai temple, Bariyapur in Bara district.
Police resorted to baton charge after the Maoists hurled a slipper, which dropped nearby by DPM Gachhadar as he was about to enter the temple.
The Maoists showed black flags and chanted slogans against DPM Gachhadar while he was on his way, along with his team, to Gadhimai festival in Bara district on Thursday.
Some of the pilgrims were also injured when police personnel wielded batons to disperse the agitating Maoist cadres who greeted the DPM’ s team comprising Tourism Minister Sarad Singh Bhandari, Joint Minister for Physical Planning, Construction Kalawati Paswan, lawmaker Govinda Chaudari, and coordinator of parliamentary development committee coordinator Jitendra Sonal this morning.
The DPM’s team boarded a Nepal Army chopper from the capital at around 10 this morning. However, the ministers flew back immediately after the situation became tense.
