DADELDHURA, NOV 24 - A man in Dadeldhura district resorted to abduction after the girl he wanted to marry rejec-ted his marriage proposal.
Police said Narendra Tamrakar and his friends, all from Amargadi VDC-6, kidnapped Kalawati Tamrakar, 18, also of the same VDC, while she was on her way to college on Monday.
Eyewitnesses said seven men, including Narendra, grabbed Kalawati and took her away in broad daylight. Four of the seven kidnappers were identified as Narendra Tamrakar, Sher Bahadur Tamrakar, Mahesh Tamrakar and Birendra Tamrakar. As of Monday evening, the whereabouts of Kalawati and her abductors were still unknown.
District Police Chief Chakra Bahadur Singh said a police team had been mobilised in the VDC to search for Kalawati and her kidnappers.
A few days earlier, Narendra and his parents had visited Kalawati’s family to ask her hand in marriage. The girl’s side had refused the proposal saying they were not willing to marry off their daughter in the same village.
