KATHMANDU, NOV 19 - Popular Nepali vocalist Amrit Gurung has another feather to add to his cap. The lead vocalist of Nepathya has been chosen as an emerging leader of the Asia-Pacific region and will participate in the Asia Society’s fourth annual Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit, to be held in Kuala Lumpur from Nov. 20.
Gurung joins other young leaders from various sectors, all under 40, who will explore “The Changing Face of Leadership: Crisis and Opportunity” at the Summit.
The Asia Society’s Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit is part of a larger initiative for emerging leaders from across the region to develop common approaches to meet the region’s challenges.
A poet, musician, singer, and photographer, Gurung is one of Nepal’s most recognised faces. He has been at the forefront of campaigning for peace and justice through his music and his art, and is considered a role model by most Nepali youngsters. He has travelled to at least 70 districts, collecting folk lyrics and music. Gurung also took his peace concerts around Nepal while the civil war was at its peak.
