BHAKTAPUR, NOV 19 - The first international-standard Zoological Garden and Recreation Centre with an area of 293 hectares will be established at Suryabinayak in Bhaktapur, as per the recommendation of the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC).

The Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation (MoFSC) has been searching for a site to establish an inernational standard zoo for the past four years.

Representatives from the proposed forest area in Suryabinayak, which covers six community forests, have decided to hand over their respective areas for the establishment of the park under certain conditions.

The community forests users groups have set forward a 27-point demand that must be fulfilled before the forest land is handed over.

The estimated cost for the initial preparation of the construction is Rs. 250 million.
