'50 pc women have respiratory problem'
DHARAN, NOV 18 -
Among the women visiting the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) who have the habit of smoking and are exposed to wood smoke in kitchen, around 50 percent have respiratory problem, according to doctors.
BKPIHS doctors say out of the total patients visiting the hospital, 30 percent have respiratory problem.
Among them, one third aged over 40, who are habitual to smoking and cook food using wood chips have developed such problem, they say. "Those patients show symptoms such as cough with sputum, noisy and long breathing etc."
The doctors say patients have to rely on oxygen if failed to seek treatment on time, adding that this problem is curable provided that timely treatment is sought.
