Briton arrested with Rs 1000 IC notes

KATHMANDU, NOV 17 - The police arrested a British national on charges of carrying Indian currency notes of the Rs. 1,000 denomination from Tribhuvan International Airport on Friday. The arrested has been identified as Venkatraman Jagannathan, who was caught with Indian currency valued at IRS. 50,000 during a routine check. It is illegal to carry Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 Indian currency denomination notes in Nepal.

Meanwhile, a construction worker died after receiving an electric shock at Ichangunarayan on Sunday afternoon. The deceased, identified as 32-year-old Binda Magar of Udayapur, was cleaning the newly-constructed house of Ram Prasad Adhikari when the incident occurred. Magar, whose condition was critical, was rushed to Janamaitri Hospital at Balaju for treatment, but did not survive.
