Civil employees resort to protests against Minister Begam
KATHMANDU, NOV 11 - Various civil servants’ organisations have resorted to protests against the brazen attack on Parsa district chief by State Minister Karina Begam.
The Civil Servants’ Organisation halted their work at the offices under the Home Ministry including district administration and area administration for two hours starting 10 am today demanding that the government should take action against the guilty minister and plead public apology.
According to Chairman of the Organisation, Ganesh Bashyal, they are organising a protest rally at the Ministry of Agriculture and submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister.
Likewise, National Civil Servants Federation has been demonstrating at the Ministry of Agriculture and is due to submit a memorandum to the Home Ministry later today.
The Civil Servants Union said that it will publicise its view on the incident only after the government announce its decision on the same.
All the government offices have come to a grinding halt in Narayani zone due to the employees’ strike.
Likewise, civil employees in Ramechhap and Shankhuwasabha halted their work for two hours starting 10 to protest against Minister Begam’s attack on CDO Durga.
Similarly, Chure Bhavar Rastriya Ekata Party, Rautahat called for a vehicular strike at the East-West highway for one hour. The party has decided to intensify its agitation if the guilty minister was not booked.
Minister of State for Agriculture Karina Begam had slapped Durga Prasad Bhandari, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Parsa on Tuesday for sending her an old vehicle to receive her at Simaraha airport.
