KATHMANDU, NOV 10 - In what looks like a brazen attack by a responsible people’s representative, Minister of State for Agriculture Karina Begam beat up Durga Prasad Bhandari, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Parsa on Tuesday.
Minister Begam, who went to the District Administration Office (DAO) with her party supporters, slapped the CDO at his office room allegedly for providing her with an old vehicle.
The minister lost her cool after CDO Bhandari provided her with a vehicle belonging to Agricultural Tools Factory instead of the DAO and went straight up to the office to vent her ire.
“Where should the people knock on if the person responsible to give justice to the people of the district himself gets beaten up?” said Bhandari, responding to the correspondent after being slapped.
Minister Begam admitted having slapped CDO Bhandari. She claimed that she did not make any mistake by assaulting him.
Following the incident, the entire civil servants in the district stopped their work to protest the "crazy attack".
