Maoists to introduce different concept at CC
KATHMANDU, NOV 10 - The UCPN (Maoist) has decided to present a different proposal at the Constitutional Committee (CC) of the Constituent Assembly (CA) on behalf of the party.
A meeting of the Maoists lawmakers representing in the CC held on Tuesday at the party headquarters in Perishdanda took the decision to this effect, lawmaker Suryaman Dong informed.
The main opposition party has been preparing to introduce different proposal on range of issues including the constitution draft, right to self determination, national flag, secularism, national animal, and state restructuring.
The Maoists is all set to table its joint concept under the leadership of party leader Deve Prasad Gurung after the CC Chairman directed all the members in the previous meeting to present the draft with the concept of the CC after carrying out studies on the same within two days.
CC President Nilamber Acharya had prepared the draft with concepts based on discussions at the CC meeting by incorporating the issues of agreements and disagreements.
The Maoists came up with the decision to take up a different concept for the CC at a time when political parties are divided over the constitution in the making.
