India against Nepal’s peace: Pokharel
NEPALGUNJ, NOV 07 - UCPN (Maoist) politburo member Lilamani Pokharel has said India is not in favour of the ongoing peace process in Nepal.
Talking to journalists at a press meet in Nepalgunj, Banke district, on Saturday, Pokharel said India was hatching conspiracies to sideline the Maoist party from the peace process and prevent it from leading the national unity government.
"Our party has come to a conclusion that India tries its best to foil Nepal's peace process," said Pokharel. He, however, did not divulge any details of the issue.
Pokharel, who is also the western bureau in-charge of the Maoists, claimed India was quite unhappy with the presence of the United Nations in Nepal. "India has been criticising the United Nations Mission in Nepal terming its role as political intervention.
In another context, the Maoist leader said his party launched nationwide protests just to change the government. He clarified that the stir was not to depose President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav.
