Oli pledges respectable position to Maoists in UML govt

KATHMANDU, OCT 31 - Senior leader of the ruling CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli on Saturday has asked the Maoists to forget their planned protest and join the incumbent government.

Oli, speaking at a tea reception organised by the dissolved UML Kathmandu district committee in the capital, pledged a respectable place in the government for the UCPN (Maoist) if they cancelled the protest. "For forming a government under their leadership, the Maoists have to muster a majority in the House. Otherwise, they should join the incumbent government," he said.

A vocal critic of the Maoists, Oli went on to claim that the protest would not draw crowd. "People are not fool," he said," The latest activities of the Maoists have irked the people and given rise to doubts at the political level."

The UML leader claimed that the protest was aimed at fomenting anarchy, adding, "The government should act against anarchy."
