KATHMANDU, OCT 29 - Two days ahead of the Maoists' protests programme, the Central Special Security Committee (CSSC) on Thursday decided to make the special security Plan more effective.

The UCPN (Maoist) had announced its fresh agitation programmes on Tuesday, saying that the ongoing talks to end the parliamentary deadlock would not produce any result.

A press statement issued by the Home Ministry stated that the decision to further improve the law and order situation was made, concluding that the implementation of the working plan aimed at curbing the increasing anarchy and armed activities so far was satisfactory.

Today's CSSC meeting also discussed the agitation programmes announced by the Maoists, a source said. The meeting has considered that the Maoists' agitation can be addressed under the effect of the special security plan.

A late night meeting of the UML leaders held at Home Minister Bhim Rawal's residence on Wednesday had directed to deal with the Maoists in a strong manner , saying the Maoists' have increased anarchic activities. The instantaneous meeting and the decision to enhance security is being viewed as meaningful.

Home Secretary Govinda Kusum, Acting Nepal Army Chief Toranjung Bahadur Singh, Nepal Police Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ramesh Chand Thakuri, Armed Police Force (APF) IGP Santa Basnet and National Investigation Department Chief Ashok Dev Bhatta were present at the meeting presided over by Home Minister Rawal.
