Marwari community demands security
KATHMANDU, OCT 23 - As criminal groups have continued to threaten the Marwari community demanding donation/ransom, Nepal Rastriya Marwari Parishad and Marwari Sewa Samiti Nepal have demanded a solid step from the government for their security. In a joint press release on Friday, the two organisations said that their community members were being threatened with action not unlike the case of three businessmen who were shot at last month. Criminal groups had shot Binod Kumar Gupta, a Birgunj based businessman dead on Oct. 9 and also shot at Manoj Harlal and Raju Gupta on Oct. 13. "Harlal was declared dead at Kathmandu Teaching hospital and Gupta's condition is serious with both his legs paralysed," the statement said. The two organisations condemned the attacks on them and demanded that the government bring the culprits to book at the earliest.Posted on: 2009-10-24 01:37
