Indefinite shutdown in Mechi

MECHI, OCT 12 - Normal life in Mechi Zone has been crippled on Monday due to an indefinite Mechi Zone shutdown called by Nepal Transport Workers’ Association (NTWA).

No transportation have plied the roads in Mechi and adjoining areas. Hundreds of travellers have been stranded due to the banda. Passenger buses heading for Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthhar from the capital have also been stopped in the middle.

Entire market areas have also been closed down due to the shutdown.

The locals have demanded to sort out the issue at the earliest saying the closure will affect Tihar festival.

The NTWA have demanded to release a detained driver saying the government lawyer filed the case at the appellate court despite providing compensation to the family of those killed in truck accident.
