Three-party meet ends inconclusively

KATHMANDU, OCT 02 - A much awaited three-party meeting that was expected to pave way for the ongoing political deadlock ended inconclusively in the capital on Friday.

The meeting of the top three parties—CPN-UML, Nepali Congress (NC) and Unified CPN (Maoist)--failed to forge consensus on joint resolution motion, which the parties have already agreed to table at the Legislature-Parliament.

The meeting ended inconclusively after the coalition leader UML and its key ally NC could not reach understanding on 'President's move'.

The meeting will resume in the capital tomorrow.

Maoist Vice Chairman Narayan Kazi Shrestha said that solid discussion could not be made as the NC and the UML have not yet come up with the draft proposal on joint motion.

According to a source, UML has insisted on including President's move in the draft proposal while the NC has opposed UML insistence.

A tripartite meeting yesterday had decided to table a joint resolution motion for ending on what has been a protracted political impasse. The meeting had entrusted NC and UML to prepare the draft proposal of the joint motion.
