KATHMANDU, SEP 27 - The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the local security bodies to send the arrested central leaders of the armed groups to the capital.

As per the directive, more than half a dozen of the central leaders of the armed groups' active in the east have been brought to Kathmandu.

Ajay Kumar Rai alias 'Kaila Khumbu', central member of Kirat Janawadi Workers Party, an armed group striving for carving out an autonomous Kirat state, has also been brought to the capital. Rai was arrested by the police in Itahari few days ago.

A source close to the Ministry said the arrested leaders were brought to the capital as the local police were facing difficulty in taking action against them.

It also said that there would 'political pressure' if the arrested leaders were kept in custody by the local police.
