Simran shines in Machapuchre swimming
KASKI, SEP 22 - Simran Serchan of Shuvatara School won gold in girl's 11-12 yrs 50m freestyle at the Third Machapuchre Age Group and Open Swimming Championship on Monday. Ranjeeta Shrestha of Little Angles School came second.
In boy's category, Manish Chitrakar of Little Angles School clocked the distance in 34.82 seconds to win gold while Srish Gurung and Sahaj Shakya of Shuvatara won silver and bronze respectively.
Little Angles School and Shuvatara shined in the two-day championship which concluded on at the Penguin Swimming Pool on Monday.
Jeet Jolly Maharjan of Little Angles School clinched gold in the 50 m freestyle in the girls 13-14 yrs category with the timing of 40.41 seconds. Sonue Gurung of Nepal Adarsh School, Kaski and Kritigya Shrestha of Little Angles School came second and third respectively.
Miraj Prajapati of Daffodil School, Kalindra Shah of Little Angles School capped gold and silver in the boy 13-14 50m freestyle. In U-10 girl's back stroke Sonira Bista of Baba Boarding School grabbed gold, completing the distance in 21.06 seconds to take the top spot. Sangeet Chaudhary of Little Angles School won the boy's category followed by Suresh Thapa and Samrakshan Thapa.
In the 25m butterfly of the boy's U-10 category, Deepen Lama of Little Angles School came first while Samrakshan Thapa and Keshan Thapa were second and third. Likewise, Jayant Prakash Gurung of Kathmandu Valley bagged gold in back stroke of boy's 15-17 yrs category. Prabin Shrestha of Shuvatara and Adhip Dhoz Baniya of Little Angles were second and third respectively. A total of 125 students from nine schools in Kathmandu and Kaski had participated in the tournament.
