Makhan win chess title

Makhan Chess Club won the First Himalayan Cup National Club Chess Championship with a comfortable 4-0 win over Far-Western Chess Club on Sunday. The winning team finished the championship with total 14 points. On the last day of the event, Makhan's Sajan Pandey, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, Sujendra Prasad Shrestha and Punyaman Karmacharya bagged a point each to produce a one-sided result over the visiting club. Kantipur Chess Club scored 10 points to finish second behind Makhan. Kantipur lost their last game to Friends of National Club Bhaktpur 2.5-1.5, but still managed a podium finish. Bhaktapur came third with 10 points and 18.5 game points. The top three teams won Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively.
