Dhami, Gurung win

Kathmandu, Sep 12 - Deepesh Dhami and Punam Gurung triumphed in the U-16 category of the National Open Badminton Championship on Friday. Dhami of Armed Police Force (APF) ended Bilal Warish's challenge 21-17, 21-12 in the final. In the girl's final, Kaski's Gurung edged Samjhana Sharma of Banke 21-7, 21-8.

In the men's singles, Ram Singh Chaudhary and Ratna Jeet Tamang booked their place in the final at Nepal Police Court on Saturday. Chaudhary defeated Sajan Krishna Tamrakar 21-17, 24-22 in the semi-final. "It was a tough win. The youngster provided a tough competition," Chaudhary said. "In the final too I will give it my all to pocket the winner's prize of Rs. 50,000." Tamang, on the other hand, had a comfortable 21-18, 21-13 win over Pankaj Chand.
